We just returned from a morning as guests at Hamilton’s Spring 2019 Bump, Baby, Toddler Show. I took our toddler, and met my friend and her baby and we had a bit of a mommy date while we browsed everything the show had to offer. If you have little ones, definitely take the stroller or a carrier to move them around or they’ll want to get their hands on everything— I let toddler out at one of the booths and it was nearly impossible to get him back in.
That being said, Messy Play Studio had a great play area for toddlers where they could enjoy a few different messy play set-ups. abc2 had their tents set up for children to explore and an area for them to colour. There was also a bouncy castle in the back corner which was great for my little guy because it wasn’t too busy so he could do his own thing.
Now on to the part the mamas will be interested in! I’m a total sucker for handmade or locally made baby and toddler clothing. The makers at these types of shows always have the best fabric selections and their hard work is obvious by the gorgeous pieces they put together. It was great having conversations with the various shops to learn more about their products and what inspired them to start their own businesses.
Some of my very favourites were Crown and Stipley, who had blankets, swaddles and other adorable items out of gorgeous fabrics and prints. My favourites were the flamingos and bees. If I still had a baby, I’d for sure have picked up a few items.
I also loved what I heard when talking to the ladies at Panchhi Inc. They had really nice sleep sacks of various weights and they told us about how the dyes for their fabric prints are made— they’re made naturally from things like turmeric and sea salt. I love this idea and am looking into getting one of their XL summer sleep sacks for my little guy!
Daniel’s Threadz was another vendor whom I could have bought the entire lot from. Their raglan sweaters and harem pants were made from a ton of great prints and they had lots of slouchy pom pom hats to match. I was impressed by their selection that was suitable for boys— I often find tons of girl choices but Daniel’s Threadz really had a lot to offer for little boys too!
If you have time this weekend, Bump, Baby, Toddler runs today and tomorrow (Maya 4&5, 2019) from 9am-3pm at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Don’t miss the Expert’s Lounge where you can touch base with various experts in the baby and toddler realm!
