Welcome to Raising Hamilton! The idea for this site has been brewing in my mind since I became pregnant in 2016 and was a brand new mama to be in a brand new city, Hamilton, Ontario. I literally didn’t have a family doctor, didn’t have any local friends, and barely knew my way around the city. I was also not at all well-versed in what someone should do throughout all of the phases of pregnancy, labour, delivery, bringing home baby, caring for an infant, and raising a baby who eventually turned into a toddler.
There are women who are finding out they’re going to be mamas every day in Hamilton, and there are parents who are moving to Hamilton from other places, near and far, every day. I’m hoping my blog, that’s been brewing in my mind for two years, can help those parents figure out how to raise their wee ones in Hamilton. If you’re one of the people that I just mentioned, I’d love to help point you in the right direction when you have questions like “where do I go for prenatal care in Hamilton?” or “what is it like to deliver a baby at St. Joes?” and “what activity can I do with my baby that will fit in between her nap times?”
They say it takes a village to raise a child.
And, with that in mind, I’d love to hear your take on the ins and outs of parenting in Hamilton so that I can feature them on Raising Hamilton. Head on over to my Contact page and let me know if you have any ideas or if there’s something you’d love to hear about. Even though my little guy is 17 months old now, I explore ideas for raising him in Hamilton almost daily. Stay tuned as I share what I discover about our great, energized city– Hamilton!
